Community Spotlight – Blaise Fornwald

Some of the biggest impacts on a community don't always come from those in the spotlight. More often than not, they come from the people who quietly show up, lend a hand, and take pride in making sure things are done right. They don't seek recognition or praise—they simply care about the place they call home.

This month, the Town of Lampman is proud to recognize Blaise Fornwald as our Community Spotlight recipient.

For many years, Blaise has been a familiar face behind the scenes, volunteering countless hours to help maintain some of the community's most valued spaces. His contributions may not always be obvious to everyone, but they are felt throughout the town every single day.

Each spring, Blaise helps prepare the ball diamonds for another season of baseball and softball. Before the first pitch is ever thrown, there is a great deal of work that goes into getting the fields ready. Thanks to Blaise's dedication, local athletes and visiting teams are welcomed onto well-maintained diamonds that are ready for another successful season. It's the kind of work that often goes unnoticed—but without it, the season simply couldn't begin.

Blaise also serves as President of the Lampman Golf Course, where his commitment extends far beyond meetings and administration. He spends countless hours helping care for the course, the clubhouse, and the equipment that keeps everything operating smoothly. His willingness to pitch in wherever needed has helped ensure that the golf course remains a place the community can continue to enjoy year after year.

His generosity doesn't stop there. Blaise also takes great pride in caring for the grounds of the Catholic Church and cemetery. Whether it's routine maintenance or addressing something before it becomes a larger issue, he believes that every task—no matter how small—is worth doing well. His attention to detail and pride in his work help keep these meaningful spaces beautiful and well cared for for everyone who visits.

As the person who nominated Blaise shared:

"Blaise quietly works in the community servicing the ball diamonds and getting them ready in the spring. He is the golf course president and also works continuously on the upkeep there, not just the grounds but the clubhouse and equipment.

He also looks after the Catholic Church grounds and cemetery. Any maintenance, no matter how minor, is addressed. These small but important tasks need to be addressed, otherwise the sports teams wouldn't be able to start on time and function smoothly. Kudos to Blaise!"

That nomination perfectly captures the spirit of community service. So much of what makes a town a wonderful place to live isn't accomplished through grand gestures—it's built through steady dedication, reliability, and people who are always willing to give their time for the benefit of others. Blaise embodies those qualities.

His efforts have touched many corners of Lampman over the years. From children stepping onto freshly prepared ball diamonds, to golfers enjoying a well-kept course, to families visiting a peaceful and cared-for cemetery, countless people have benefited from his quiet commitment. While many may never realize just how much work happens behind the scenes, Blaise has been one of the people making it happen.

When he's not volunteering his time around the community, Blaise enjoys spending his days off relaxing at his cabin at White Bear Lake or making memories with his grandchildren—time that is undoubtedly well earned after so many years of giving back.

Volunteers like Blaise remind us that a strong community isn't built by one person or one project. It's built by neighbours who care, who give their time freely, and who take pride in making their hometown a better place for everyone. His years of service have left a lasting impact on Lampman, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has done—and continues to do.

On behalf of the Town of Lampman and the entire community, thank you, Blaise, for your years of dedication, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to making Lampman a place we're all proud to call home.
